About Ran Wei

Ran Wei Baker is a local Chinese American children's book author. The Boba Bear Bilingual series are Ran's first self-published children's board books. Ran was raised by immigrant parents who were very intentional about exposing her to Chinese language and culture as she was growing up- to this day, this has been the best gift her parents have given her. So, when Ran was pregnant with her daughter Lily, she wanted to give the gift of language and culture to Lily too.

As she was putting together Lily’s book collection, Ran was surprised at how little bilingual books there were in the children’s book market, especially for modern families like hers with mixed-heritage and multilingual children. She wanted to set an example for her daughter and be the change she wanted to see. With the goal of wanting to make a positive impact on her community at heart, Boba Bear Bilingual was created!

Boba Bear is in many ways Ran’s love letter to her daughter. She wanted to create relatable and engaging learning books that make reading a fun experience for both parents and children, in hopes that multicultural kids like Lily can find joy and take pride in seeing books on the shelves that celebrate their culture and language.
