Founded in 2015, Mexico In My Pocket began as a place to share beautiful pictures of Mexico on Instagram.
Today, it has grown into a lifestyle brand, blog, and online shop where people from all over the world can come together and celebrate Mexico.
Our mission has always been to counter negative stereotypes by spreading awareness of the beauty of Mexican culture.
By sharing travel guides, recipes, cooking classes, and other resources, we hope to help everyone learn more about Mexican traditions and for Mexicans around the world to stay connected to their heritage.
Founder & CEO
Luisa Navarro, Mexican-American journalist and founder of Mexico In My Pocket, struggled with her bicultural identity as a young girl.
At one point in her life, she even was embarrassed to be Mexican.
As she grew older, she learned to fall in love with her culture and became passionate about sharing stories that showed people a side of Mexico often overlooked in the news.
One of her goals is to create a platform that reaches enough people around the world so that they will start saying, “I’m planning a trip to Oaxaca” with the same enthusiasm they’d use for planning a trip to Paris.
And while telling stories about Mexican culture is her passion, she recognizes that she can’t do it alone–which is why Mexico In My Pocket has always been a platform built around community.

We came across this beautiful shop quite by accident while visiting our daughter in Brooklyn. The owner Luisa took so much time to answer all of our questions, and even in that short amount of time it became obvious what a wonderful human being this young woman is! We were so impressed by the quality and authenticity of the products, and ordered several items to be shipped to family members in California.. Beautiful packaging and wonderful customer service throughout the whole process.
I cannot put into words how much I care about this business. Luisa and her team are THE BEST! They have the best customer service I've ever seen. The blog posts are always interesting and heartwarming. Their recipes are delicious. The photos they share are breathtaking. Their products are top quality and they put in the effort to describe their items and where they came from well. You can tell that each item is crafted with care and love.
I ordered a pair of earrings from this wonderful shop, and because of holiday shipping problems everywhere, they were returned to sender. Luisa was not only fast to answer my questions about the missing earrings, and remedy the issue, but was one of the most pleasant people to deal with. Magnificent customer service, and an absolutely magnificent shop!
I happened into this lovely shop in Brooklyn while out with my daughters. We were so drawn in by the beautiful colors and pieces on display. Handmade jewelry, decorations, and items like the canasta tortilleros. These pieces are a lovely way to keep tortillas warm but so much more. They are beautiful handmade pieces of art that could easily be displayed as wall hangings. We left with three, but in my head I knew that this is my treat to myself each time I visit Brooklyn.
Just received my earrings and they are more beautiful in person. Fast shipping and the most adorable box that was pretty enough to give as a gift. Loved the attention to detail and makes you feel like every order is special.
Customer service is awesome! The staff treat you like family! I am a customer for life!
